RICHARD Dunne will join Sunderland in the summer for around £4million. (The Sun)

The centre-half is on his way out after nine years at Manchester City as Eastlands manager Mark Hughes wants to shake up his squad for next's season's trophy hunt.

Dunne, 29, joined City after being released from Everton and established himself as one of the toughest defenders in the game.

Captain Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia believes Dunne can add to the Black Cats' spirit and is understood to even be ready to make Dunne his captain.

Dunne can also expect to pocket a few more quid with the switch - with his current wages of £35,000 a week increasing to £50,000.

He's been terrible this year. I honestly think he's amongst a group of players who have seen their arse over our new found wealth.
While players like Ireland have embraced the challenge, I think Dunne resigned himself very early on that he would be replaced, and his performances have reflected that.

undoubtedly been a fantastic servant to us. Player of the year for 4 (?) years. Nevertheless, unfortunately, he is a shadow of the player he was. Don't know what's happened to him. He isn't that old and he's never really suffered with injuries. There is a theory that he is poor through having to cover For Micah's bad positional sense. Only seeing them intermittently, I'm not in a position to agree or not with that.

I was having a look on a Sunderland forum and they seem split as to whether they want him. Most of them reckon a change will do him good and his form this season is just a blip. They are looking forward to signing him although a few eyebrows are being raised about his wages.
Quite a lot of them however, think he is one of the most overrated defenders in the Prem and this season has shown that age has caught him and he is finished as a top flight defender.

He has been a fantastic servant for us and I for one am grateful to him. Sentiment aside, he isn't good enough for us any more, and I'd be saying that ADUG or not.

Thanks Richard, but time to move on.

Dunnaldo is a club legend who should be revered with the goat. He knows the club saved his career and will always give his all.

I'd love him to stay for the rest of his playing days with us and be rewarded with a testimonial as he's one of the few premier league players who deserves one.

Dunne has always made his fair share of mistakes, just he's not had a rock alongside him all season to help mirror when he digs us out of the shit. Which he still does.

I won't shed a tear if he does go, infact i quietly hope he does, paving the way for Kompany and Nedum to become our first choice centre backs.

But he'll get nothing but love from me regardless of what colour shirt he's wearing at the CoMS next season.

I don't doubt for a second that he'd give all the proceeds to charity either, unlike that cunt Giggs.
