Re: Jeebus's Own FC v Sporting
I think some of our players are playing it in the spirit of a pre season friendly. Hart did not look arsed challenging for their 2nd.

I agree.
Maybe a poll is in order?
Re: Jeebus's Own FC v Sporting
It is, and unfortunately the weather's not cooperating whatsoever. It was ridiculously humid today - I've never sweated so much whilst doing nothing - and tomorrow we're supposed to have a record high temperature with the heat index well over 100. It's going to be absolutely broiling.

Re: Jeebus's Own FC v Sporting
Eat me, the both of you.
I'm not at all happy. We looked good for the first ten minutes or so, but after that, we were about as flat as a week-old open can of Coke. Jo, in particular, was an absolute fucking donkey and I'd happily see him off again this season. Hart was disappointing on the goals; should've had the first one, and he completely gave up on the second. For me, Johnson was the only City player who really turned up tonight. He looked as though he had a trick or two up his sleeve most of the night while his teammates looked almost entirely bereft of ideas.
Apart from that, the best and worst thing about the game was the City fans. Going down with a lot of the traveling and NYC Blues to the Battery Park PATH train station to Harrison on open-top buses was the most fun I've had in ages, but we were outnumbered probably 10-to-1 at the ground by Sporting fans. Fair enough, though, as Newark apparently has a mammoth Portuguese population, so it's not like nobody saw it coming (though they only had two chants that they used over and over throughout the game). A few of the City fans were knobs, though, including this one guy who stood at the railing in our corner in the second half and sang down at the Sporting supporters, 'We'll buy your club, and we'll burn it down". There's really no room for that, IMO.
Hopefully Sunday will be better.

Re: Jeebus's Own FC v Sporting
As per usual, BM gone into meltdown following a defeat. Granted, by all accounts it was a piss poor performance (didn't bother watching it). But; It was a pre-season meaningless friendly. I seem to remember us doing just as bad last summer in South Africa against arguably poorer opposition, and we went on to get agonisingly close to CL qualification. Also, there were some of our supposedly first choice players not playing. I'm not looking for any tall buildings to jump off yet!
Odd request, but here you go;mat wrote:
