Wot Sven wants!!

As we enter November and attentions start turning to Christmas shopping, Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed he’s already being offered presents of a different type in the January sales.
He explained: “Since September it’s been very quiet, now the agents are waking up again, there are more and more calls every day.

“Probably they think we have a lot of money, maybe we have, I don’t know how much we have in January.”

Nonetheless, after spending close to £40m in the summer window on quality players like Elano and Vedran Corluka, Sven admits his interest at some of the names being given to him by agents for the next opportunity to strengthen.

“It’s good because they’ve started to offer really good football players,” stated Eriksson.

“If we are going to do something in January, we are not going to buy eight or nine new players, maybe one or two. If we are going to buy anyone they must be really, really top quality.

“We have a good football team, we play good football and to make that better, you must take in top quality.”

And as third placed City progressed into the last eight of the Carling Cup last night, the thought of European football always helps to attract the type of quality Sven needs.

The Manager conceded: “Of course I hope that we can play in Europe next season.

“You can do that by winning the Carling Cup or by being amongst the top six or seven in the league and both of them are very difficult targets but you can always dream.”
