Why?
He did the hard work in the centre today which allowed Elano and Castillo to get forward, he got in the box to score, he can pass the ball.
What do you expect from a 21 year old kid?
He doesn't look bothered 90% of the time for me. OK I know Elano doesn't either, but he's twice the player Ireland is. I think his passing is awful, 9 times out of 10 today it went to a white shirt.
When he decided to get stuck in and tackle, it was either telegraphed, or he did get the ball, but it went to another white shirt.
Just poor. Been poor all year for me, the Derby at OT as the exception.

How people look should be of no concern, Matt Le Tissier always looked fucked, but he wasnt bad. Looks are very decieving and people misread them.
His passing completion rate is amongst the highest in the prem, so how can he give the ball away 90% of the time.
Maybe he was instructed by management to play a disciplined role today and stay on his feet, not dive in and close down Spurs space in midfield, which as a team we did very well.
He is 21 years old remember...6/7 years away from his peak and a player we should be backing as he has a potentially huge future

Re: City Vs. Spurs
I would drop Benjani, He isnt doing much in the games...
Should playing with Sturridge or Caicedo up front.

Agreed, thought Castillo was our MOM, unlucky to be brought off, although I assume it was a question of fitness.
Definitely fitness related, he did very well though.
I cant believe here is a thread on BM slagging off Ireland again. i despair to think what they actually want from a 21 year old kid.
That thread is mine, come to the end of my teather with Stevie, not up to it tbh

Yep, I always say I'd rather someone put in 10% effort and won us a game, than 100% effort for no reward (Dickov). And I'm obviously mistaken about his passing.
But he doesn;t seem to be here nor there. He's not playing as a defensive midfielder, nor as a creative one, neither job (IMO) is he able to do well....he's just,...there to make up numbers.
As for he's 21, well in this day and age of football, they're getting younger and younger, I think by 21 now, he should be most of the way to being the finished product. Ireland, for me is no where near.

He plays to team orders as every player on the pitch does, he is told what to do before every game, he does not decide for himself.
As for people agaed 21 being the finished article, how many finished article 21 year olds have you ever seen..........

Hehe.
No but when you think if the Rooney's and Ronaldo's of this world, even the Johnson's..they're more 'complete' at their particular role than Stevie is. By soome distance.

True but Ronaldo, Rooney and Johnson will get better and better probbly.
People mature at different ages, Ian Wright and Stuart Pearce didnt make thier league debuts until the age of 24. Both Became great players.
Conversly Peter Barnes was a world beater at 19 and finished at 25
