COMS/financial fair play rules
With the new rules saying we can only spend what we generate, surely that means we are losing out by giving a percentage of our gate to the council.
It didn't make financial sense to buy the stadium before, but the new rules change all that. We need to maximise our revenue streams and even if we expand the stadium the council get a percentage of everything over the old capacity of Maine Rd.
I can't see the Sheik spending money on expanding the stadium just to hand over most of the extra income to the council. It just doesn't make sense.
It wouldn't surprise me if we buy the stadium outright. A huge outlay but it would mean more money available to spend on transfers/wages in the short and long term. Especially if we extend capacity.

Not much point extending capacity yet; we're not selling out COMS as it is!
