What are you laughing at anyways ?
The american media is just as bad as ours if not worse.
Name me one person that is decent (ie us lot) that said England will win the world cup ?
Now fuck off with your laughter

Steady on, Walfie - I may just fuck off with my laughter to the next round. England, on the other hand, well...bluealf wrote:What are you laughing at anyways ?

You have only drawn your 2 games the same as our useless lot.

Consider the history and reputation of the two footballing nations too, first. We're expected to progress, USA are happy 'winning' 1-1

Re: England v Algeria
We never have the impossible expectations for our team that you lot do for yours. That, and we've come from behind twice and should've won today. England haven't looked like being able to do that - shit, you've hardly looked like scoring a goal.bluealf wrote:You have only drawn your 2 games the same as our useless lot.

If England shits the bed again against Slovenia next week - which you probably won't, but still - I'll have no sympathy for England.

None of us really give a shit about INGERLAND and im sure you will know this after reading the site for all this time but nothing gets the back up like a fucking smug yank telling you how you expect England to win every game and how crap you are.

Re: England v Algeria
I don't expect England to win every game, but the English media seems to. I don't know if I'd call it England's biggest problem, but it's one of the bigger ones: England hasn't won this tournament in 44 years, but you still see journalists, talking heads on television, etc saying that this is England's best chance at winning the thing since 1966, blah blah blah. I want England to do well (when the U.S. isn't involved), but all that pressure that's heaped on the team is a lot for a group with zero members that were alive when England last won the thing to live up to. Maybe too much.bluealf wrote:None of us really give a shit about INGERLAND and im sure you will know this after reading the site for all this time but nothing gets the back up like a fucking smug yank telling you how you expect England to win every game and how crap you are.

Re: England v Algeria
The biggest problem the England team face is not the form of the players or the tactics of the manager, it's the expectations of the media.
They build the team up and pile the pressure on and when the team crumble under the pressure, they blame everyone but themselves.
I stopped supporting England after Euro 96. I don't mean I want them to lose, I want them to win every game and I still watch England games.
But to really get behind a team and support them, you need to invest emotionally in them, and that's what I can't bring myself to do, not after being let down so badly in 96.
That special gut wrenching sense of disappointment and failure when you lose is just too much to bear. I only let City affect me like that now. Having two teams continually build you up only to knock you down twice as hard is just too much to ask
I realize that if England ever do win a tournament then my enjoyment of it would be seriously muted, but that's a price I'm prepared to pay.

Re: England v Algeria
I think the expectations have been relivately low this year.
No one has said we "will" win, plenty have said we "can" win, with lots of 'ifs and buts'.
It'll take a major overhaul to even consider getting past the round of 16 though.
