Micah going forward Empty Micah going forward

Anyone else find his forward runs a touch pointless?

You all know me and I'm not one to slag a blue needlessly but when he's at rb he careers up the line, bumbling his way past players and then looks, literally, lost as he realises he hasnt any idea what he's meant to do that for up given that he isnt the best passer of the ball and his shots are a bit lacking.

Not only that but he tends to take his time getting back, he's like a frustrated centre forward at times!

I'm very aware now too that we'll beat Stoke thanks to an inspired solo goal from Micah having dribbled from his own six yard box Rolling Eyes

Something like Distin's at Villa two or three (?) years back will do nicely!

Yeah that was a special goal that!

Top Blue points to me cos I was there cheers

You know what I mean about Micah though? He lacks that suave 'Frenchness' that Distin had when going forward. Micah just seems to power his way through then stop and realise 'fuck me, what do I do now?' tongue

More "brute force" than "finesse" really.

Didn't he once say that he felt he could play anywhere? Whilst that smacks of confidence and versatility it is also a bit worrying, because it smacks to me of someone who doesn't feel "complete" yet in one particular role.

I think he has obvious assets...pace and strength. But there needs to be more before he truly finds the position he is comfortable in. And that may yet be his achilles heel.

I think it was his dad or the bloke who coached him as a kid who claimed that Micah would become a Stevie Gerrard type of player. I don't see it myself and I think we were all a bit giddy when he made the grade.

Don't get me wrong, I like him and I rate him but he isnt a naturally gifted player ala Ireland/Elano etc. He's a good defender who in time can become great especially if he learns to keep his cool at times and also becomes a better passer of the ball.

He was sayinf recently in the City mag that he wants to play at RB, interestingly since that article was published he's done just that.

I do like him getting forward but it always seems a bit haphazard and clumsy to me and he tends to become a hinderance rather than a plus point when he's up there.

He's not a naturally gifted footballer imo, he's an extremely able athlete who's more than competent with a ball at his feet.
