I don't think I have ever seen someone at the club patronise a Manager like he just did.

He wants City to be more rag than the shite.
whatever was left of the club ties with the community will go with that arseholes vision for the club. Rather than helping Local struggling teams pre season, the club will be touring asia, africa,USA purely for $$$$$$$.
I wonder why we still keep going sometimes.

Re: Cooks comments to the press
I guess the difference is, when utd became big, it was a game with not a lot of growth or money involved. Now, as you can see, we have some of the worlds richest businessmen investing in the league.
They obviously see a huge potential to make a lot of cash and a piece of history. That article is the most worrying thing i've read in all the myre of crap that has been spouted around the media and the internet.
He absolutely has no right to comment on players, or management style... However, business wise, i can't knock him. He's been brought into to maximise the potential of our club into profit in order to make M.C.F.C a sustainable, profitable giant. A market force, if you like.
If i was Hughes however, that "Heated debate" would be taking place right now... What Cook has said is exactly not what the fans want to hear, who told him it would be a good idea to do the interview?
Slighty Off Topic:
For me, the attraction of City will never go away, other than my dad, it was the attitude of the fans that drew me to the club. Owners and players have and will come and go, but being around City fans will, hopefully, always stay the same... and thats the addiction for me.

Re: Cooks comments to the press
Just reread the article.
What a cunt!
If i was Thomas Cook I'd fuck city off right now and belittling both the manager and Captain i don't think he'll be seen at Carrington alone. The man makes that rag twat Kenyon Passable and thats saying something.

Re: Cooks comments to the press
Fuck you.Not everyone will be satisfied, but Cook is more bothered about the
"10-year plan" to become a "global empire" and bringing in a box-office
signing. "We need a superstar," he says. "I've talked about this a lot
to Mark and he sort of understands. China and India, 30% of the world
population, need a league to watch and we want Manchester City to be
their club. To do that, we need a superstar because, no disrespect,
Richard Dunne doesn't roll off the tongue in Beijing."
(although, frankly - no pun intended - there's so many things Cook's quoted in this as saying that he is just comically wrong about, and not just about Dunney)

I couldn't believe that when I read it. You DO NOT say that in a football club.

You really couldn't. Well, somebody that used to be a high-up at Nike could've, but...mackenzie wrote:neblue1 wrote:Fuck you.Not everyone will be satisfied, but Cook is more bothered about the

It's just insulting on so many levels. The name 'Richard Dunne' doesn't roll off the tongue in the United States, either (case in point: Here n Omaha, a city of about half a million people - the metropolitan area's about 750,000 - there are a grand total of five City fans that I know of, myself included), but while I want bigger and better things for City, too, I don't really mind so much that we have players that aren't household names the world over. I've managed to deal with that from City for 11 years now - I'm in no real hurry for glory and cups galore, especially if it's at all questionably gotten.
Let's all say it together: Russ was right. I do hope that he warms up to football and to City again, but credit to him for having the presence of mind and reason and morality that a lot of us didn't when Frank took over.

Re: Cooks comments to the press
Glad I'm not the only one who upon reading the article muttered the word 'cunt' a few times!
I thought he was ok until yesterday then I read that shite and I couldnt care less for the bloke to be honest. I'm aware we need to move onwards and upwards but he's deluded if he thinks bringing in some has been will add 5000 on to our gates consistently. Maybe sell a few shirts to the asians but no more than we would if we fucked off this idea of buying a superstar and knuckled down, built a squad and won a fucking proper trophy.

Re: Cooks comments to the press
People are two quick to jump to conclusions.
He never mentioned a has been... The knock on effects of signing a ROnaldinho or an Henry would be felt both on and off the pitch, in a very positive effect.
The thing that worried me was, as Thaksin arrived and was signing autographs, Sky asked something along the lines of, "Will you still be Manchester City chairmen, will DIC be investing"
and he replied,
"I'm here today, I'm here for now"
Doesn't sound like a man with a "10 year plan" but maybe he was reffering to the fact he'd offered to step down as 'Official' Chairman
