Rumours of a new contract for MH

Post by stony on March 7th 2009, 16:33

A couple of people on BM have said this is going to happen. Amidst the slanging match that developed, the odd respected name has added weight to the rumour by agreeing that a new deal is about to be officially announced.

Watch this................or rather that space!

Hmmm.....stick with him for the time being, yes, but another contract? I'm not sure.

Oh my, I can just imagine the slanging match that ensued! Laughing

Good (IF true!). I'd have thought all these years of constantly changing managers has been proven not to work. I only have to mention Arsenal & the vermin (sorry!). The fact is, they are undoubtedly the 2 most successful managers in the history of the premiership. Taggart has been in the sty since Noah was giving sea trials to the ark, and Whinger has been at the Arse since '96 (?). They are (I think) the two longest serving managers in the premiership. Coincidence?

Would put to bed the rumours of each and every manager replacing MH at the end of the season and would be a pretty clear indication to the "rebel alliance" that our manager is here for the long haul.

Might actually improve on pitch performance.

Agreed, I think it would be a clear message to the players, exactly who is in charge, and that can only be a good thing.

If it IS true (and I notice Billyshears seems to have checked with some sources and confirmed it) then good. I take on board the comments that a contract means little these days but the one area that it might improve matters is with certain players accepting that MH, after all, might be here for the long haul.

What I don't like is the fact that some posters, who have never rated Hughes, are now doing what I thought they might (and I posted something similar on Sept 1 last year)...that is IF Hughes ever brings us success then "it's to be expected."

So he will never win in the eyes, or posts, of some.

from my own point of view i think its all internet bollocks, MH has done nothing for us to offer him a contract extention 8 or nine months into his current one. No one of any note (by that i mean official sources) has even mentioned negotiations or anything so to me its all bollocks. I still think there is half a chance that we will get the special one in the summer, but untill then we have an adequate manager who needs to up his game with regards to away selections and tactics. I do tend to think that they will look to change in the summer if we end up in a relegation dogfight and fall at the next uefa hurdle. Lets not forget this is the same manager who got us knocked out of both domestic cup competitions against piss poor lower league sides. Even with the shocking second half of the season last year we managed top ten got through a few rounds of the league cup, made it to the 4th round of the fa cup (not much to shout about i know) . I thinkobviously time will tell but i think hughes position is far from secure.

Not sure another contract is called for, but I do feel that the club need to show some stability. There is so much shit going round about us it's unreal at the moment.

The reasons to give Hughes a new contract has little to do with onfield performances since his tenure began and it should really be pretty clear to everyone on here (as i know you all have half a brain Wink )

The owners have obviously seen all the shite in every newspaper about rebel players, dressing room disharmony, player bust ups etc etc. They'll also have seen the number of managers who have been asked in pre match press conferences about replacing MH in the summer.

The conduct of most in the footballing world towards us right now is really disrespectfull; thats not the image we want to portray; Therefore, give the manager a new contract, publically declare the confidence in him and the backing he has and the players pipe down or get shipped out, the press speculation has to die down and our club gets a better public image and hopefully better on and off field results.

I daren't try and explain that over the road, after all, who am i to get in the way of a bitter point scoring agenda!? Rolling Eyes
