Hughes signings

Post  mat on June 25th 2009, 00:03

I think he's turning me round.

Barry
Taylor
Possibly Lescott and Tevez

He's gone for proven Premier league players. Men who know how to play in this league.

He's playing it safe Mat, he knows he either cracks the top 4 or comes very close or else he loses the cushiest job in football.

While I agree with Stony (that he is playing it safe because he must win) I have liked almost all of Hughes signings.

The only one that I am not behind thus far is Tal Ben Haim:shock: , however there were much different circumstances with our club at that time, which I complete understand. Frank was clearly broke.

I maybe am a little suspect of the Bellamy signing, with his injury history, but while he was fit for us he scored some important goals.

Well i believe there is a lot of truth in what you say Stony, we would do the same if it meant keeping the best job in the world.

Tbf they are all good signings in their own right. (Bar TBH) major disapointment

You can't 'play it safe' and 'crack the top 4'.

The two just don't go together. He's building for long term and also for immediate effect. His transfers so far have been spot on.

I don't think top 4 or bust is the cushiest job in football either... thats got to be Fulham or Reading.
